Maltese Cross
  • Small: $35 Code:592
    • 20mmX20mm or 0.8" diameter
  • Medium: $40 Code:593
    • 27mmX27mm or 1.1" diameter
  • Large $60 Code 594:
    • 36mmX36mm 1.4" diameter

Originally an earth center, mother goddess symbol, this type of cross was adopted by the crusaders in memory of Jerusalem, the mother of all cities, and the center of the Christian universe. This cross was specifically adopted by the Knights of Malta. Depicted on a banner as red on a white field, it was easy to see & thus may have turned the tide in some battles.

Maltese Cross, No Circle
  • Small: $35 Code:691
    • 20mmX20mm or 0.8" diameter

    • 27mmX27mm or 1.1" diameter
  • Large $60 Code 693:
    • 36mmX36mm 1.4" diameter

The Crusader cross long predates Christianity. Essentially and originally the cross derives from the natural phenomenon of two crossed sticks. The Maltese or Templar Cross is really a stylistic variation from this, to four wedge shapes facing each other. The equilateral cross also relates to the balance of the four elements by the fifth, Spirit, which emerges from the four elements of Earth, Fire, Water and Air.

    • 27mmX27mm or 1.1" diameter
  • Large $60 Code 597:
    • 36mmX36mm 1.4" diameter

This is the emblem, or seal, of the Chinese Manchu Dynasty. It is found on furniture, pottery, and other art from the Manchu period, which was a prolific period in art production. So if this symbol looks familiar to you - it's because it's everywhere - Chinese restaurants on up (or down as the case may be). It is also known as a "Shou", which symbolizes long life. The pendant is slightly domed.

Majushri/Lotus/Scroll and Sword

Manjushri/Lotus/Scroll and Sword
  • Custom piece

This fascinating piece custom designed for an American Tibetan Buddhist uses design elements traditional to Vajrayana and developed in 2 dimensional line drawings by the brilliant artist, Robert Beer. The amulet, which was 45 mm in diameter is a four layered, flush soldered, and extensively stamped and textured pendant with a fancy bail. The piece was hung on a byzantine chain, an expensive but spectacular link. Apart from the 16 petaled lotus in the background, a wooden sutra scroll, and Manjushri's flaming sword combine in this one-of-a-kind piece. The piece cost $300. Similar multiple combinations of symbols are a specialty of ours.

Majushri's Sword

Manjushri's Sword
  • Medium: $40 Code:694
    • 40mmX10mm or 1.6"" by 0.4"
  • Large: $60 Code:695
    • 53mmX14mm or 2.1 by 0.6"
  • Extra Large $80 Code 696:
    • 70mmX19mm or 3" by 0.8"

One piece that did come from the custom design above was the flaming sword of Manjushri. Manjushri is the Boddhisattva of Boddhicitta, or clear thinking. In each of the six realms of existence - Gods, Jealous Gods, Humans, Hungry Ghosts, Hell, and the Animal World, it is possible to break free from the delusion of Mara, the demon that in Buddhist cosmology keeps the wheel of samsara or ignorance turning, and achieve enlightenment through adopting the clear thinking of Manjushri. Boddhicitta doesn't mean quite the same thing as rational thought. It means, rather, relinquishing the self narrative that binds one in a false identity of suffering and ignorance. This is a fine multi layered piece that could be made in a karat gold and silver combination or just in karat gold.

Medicine Wheel

Medicine Wheel
  • Large: $200 Code:599
    • 50mmX36 or 1" by 1.5"

This is an earth/sun center version of the Medicine Wheel ("medicine" being that which is sacred) of which there are some 50 types dating back to 2500 BC from the Rocky Mountain and Plains Indians. The points go to the four directions and the feathers symbolize air, sky & courage. Warriors would receive a feather for each act of bravery to hang from their personal medicine wheel. The stones represent the 4 directions & the sun center, but also the four elements (earth, air, fire and water) plus the spirit/the divine. The stones are:

North - moonstone, South - malachite, East - lapis, West - garnet and the sun/earth center - citrine. Other stones can of course be used. It comes on a cord with silver findings, but can be had with a jump ring too. If this piece interests you but you'd like it without stones or with a different number and kind of stone just email us

Mermaid
  • Small: $35 Code:859
    • 23mmX18 or 1" by 0.7"
  • Medium: $40 Code:860
    • 31mmX23 or 1.3" by 1"
  • Large: $60 Code:587
    • 41mmX31 or 1.6" by 1"

The mermaid descends from ancient traditions connecting the Goddess with the sea as the universal womb. Aphrodite was said to have a fishtail. In India the Nagas were human above the waist & water serpents below. They lived in springs & rivers, guarding treasures in their palaces. As late as the 19th century British law claimed that any mermaid found in home waters was the property of the Crown! The sailor's dream, mermaids are variously seen as seductive, dangerous, and compassionate, they symbolize the qualities of the sea as mother, lover, friend, and enemy. She can be made larger and a bit smaller too.

Mermaid with Stone

    • 23mmX18 or 1" by 0.7"
  • Medium: $50 Code:860s
    • 31mmX23 or 1.3" by 1"
  • Large: $75 Code:587
    • 41mmX31 or 1.6" by 1"

In this variation of the design the mermaid holds a 3mm sea green tourmaline in the star. There's always been an element of danger in the old stories of mermaids. Mermaids sometimes help drowning sailors, but, as often as not, they're typified as the last sight the sailor sees. As far as the story that mermaids were sea cows or manatees I never did believe that even sailors could get quite that drunk! Any stone can be used - sea green tourmalines are "watery" - this one close to the color of the sea. She can be larger , she can't be smaller - 3mm is the smallest stone we can set. Pearls, paua shell, opals or any "sea-like" stone would look great on this piece - email for prices!

    • 30mmX23 or 1.2" by 1"
  • Large: $60 Code:607
    • 40mmX30 or 1.6" by 1.3"

This is a symbol of China's Ming Imperium: a dynastic emblem derived from a Tibetan Buddhist design depicting the interweaving of karma - the ceaseless succession of cause and effect - and rebirth. It is an endless knot, indicating that the cycle of birth-death-rebirth is as ceaseless as the karma that intertwines it. It is found on Chinese dynastic art, furniture, pottery, and fabric and carpets. An identical design is also found in Celtic Symbolism. Endless knots tend to be in every culture at every time.

This is light in darkness, the manifestation of the divine in the void. The tidal influence of the moon, its' waxing and waning, has resulted in its association cross-culturally with water, death, and the female reproductive cycle. It is a symbol of the female/goddess energy of the divine. Our moons are hand cut, hand rounded, and hand polished to a high shine - like every other piece for that matter - making every piece a one of a kind. Pretty special for less than $65!

The sun is seen as fiery, powerful and masculine, the moon as cool, powerful (think tides) and feminine. Any stone can be balanced on the moon's tip but the moonstone seems, ah, quite appropriate.

The moon is light in darkness, the manifestation of the divine in the void. It is a symbol of female/ goddess energy. The star represents solar, or male energy. So the total piece is the Yin-Yang of the heavens - male and female, light and dark, chaos and order (which is chaos and which is order, eh?)

This symbol appears on the flags of a number of Moslem countries and is often (in a slightly different rotation) seen as a symbol of Islam though it appears to considerably predate the birth of that religion. Another interpretation of this symbol is that it references the conjunction of the planet Venus and the crescent moon in the night sky. The waxing moon was a renowned Greek symbol for Artemis so it may be that the symbol originally refers to the two Goddesses Artemis and Aphrodite. Here we show it in 14kt yellow gold.

The moon symbolizes the cyclic, mysterious, feminine and tidal forces of the goddess. The cross subscript stands for the Earth and again for the female. The symbol as a whole represents the power of the goddess in her aspects as Gaia and Luna. As the female with pentagram was dreamed by Pam, this was dreamed by a friend of hers! It can be made smaller or larger. A pair of xs moons with females make great dangle earrings and would be twice the price of the pendant. If you wanted post danges email for prices for them.

A design originated by H.P. Lovecraft, the inventor of the Cthulu Mythos, the Gate is both a ward against and a doorway to the Elder Gods. The sign is, in a way, a graphical representation of Yog Sothoth (the Key and the Gate). For those foolhardy enough to try Necronomantic magick, this is a talisman powerful enough to protect you from becoming a TV snack for the inhuman gods of the mythos.

Necronomicon Gate Ring

The size of the table (top) of this signet ring is 25 mm in diameter. This ring is a size 12. Mark was actually surprised (!) that he could pierce the Necronomicon Gate symbol the size of a quarter. The smallest ring size this design could be made is American size 10. What we mean is that this piece is hand made, fabricated - it is not cast! And it's small compared to the design above! What an effort - but Mark likes a challenge apparently. See rings section for more.
