Egyptian cat goddess, the mother of all cats, and also associated with the moon. We used to think that cats were domesticated and revered by the ancient Egyptians but now we know they domesticated themselves (and continue to do so!) long before the Egyptians. The Greeks identified her with Artemis, who became one of the goddesses of witches, hence the undeserved link of black cats to bad luck. The Egyptians had joyous and elaborate festivals in her honor - as do those in the know today. This design has a small gold earring through her ear.

Bast is also known as Bastet. Here this divine feline's head is adorned not only with a silver engraved collar, but also an emerald eye (a lesser stone is included in the price!) and a 14kt gold earring. The jump ring is on the back. This piece works very well as a pin also. The symbol is Egyptian in origin. The ancient Egyptians erected a vast temple complex to Bastet, filled with cats. Mummified cats are frequently found.

This symbol incorporates the 8 trigrams of the I Ching with the yin yang Tai Chi . This is a piece that is made out of layers of silver flush soldered together. The I Ching is a divinatory device, but more than that, it is a template for the universe representing the movement from the sophisticated efflorescence of unity into dynamic bipolarity - showing the complex variety of universal phenomena.

The Caduceus is the wand of Hermes, a symbol for the medical profession. This wand is a combination of intertwined snakes that refer to Ida & Pingali of Ayurvedic medicine, the energies flowing through the chakras up and down the spinal cord and a winged Hermes, or Mercury, who is the god of healing, knowledge & magick. This is our take on the symbol that represents the healing professions. It can also be seen as 2 intertwined snakes not fighting because of the greater good of healing. Hermes is also the trickster god - but that's another story!

This ancient Gnostic, Cathar, Templar (and lately, Satanic) symbol predates Christianity and was Canaanite and Phoenician. It is a symbol of the sacred marriage of Heaven and Earth, of the male and female generative principles. The symbol was revered by the Templars. Despite the depredations of the Church of Rome and its infamous Albigensian Crusade (when the Roman Church allegedly slaughtered 3 million innocent Cathars) this symbol for the union of Heaven and Earth, body and mind, temporal and spiritual lives on to this day with its original meaning intact. The symbol may have been an inspiration for the papal cross (read into that whatever you like). It is also an alchemical symbol for sulphur/ brimstone and probably in this regard graces the pages of the Satanic Bible. Originating in India as a sign of sexual union, this earth center symbol for the Pre-Christian Celts came to symbolize the universe quartered by the cross and the Sun King crucified. The citrine represents the son/sun of man/sun king, the moonstones the four phases of the moon/journey through life of all the suns and sons. This is a married metal technique, where the gold circle elements, symbolizing the sun, are flush soldered to the sterling silver celtic cross, symbolizing the Earth. The emerald, apart from being the stone of the Emeald Isle for which Celtic Crosses are associated, is also an Earth symbol. This was a custom piece and Mark used native cut stones, which, though difficult to set, have a rich green color.
