This is the male Mars symbol combined with the female Venus symbol. It is a variant of the symbol once adopted by the entertainer known now/again as Prince. This sign also denotes the union of male and female, besides the sexual proclivities of those who are attracted sexually to both males and females.

This ring features a two women, their arms turning into a celtic heart knot, and their legs into a celtic knot and heart. The ring can also be made with two men. We haven't made a pair with two men.....YET. Rings like this cost $750 and up, depending on size.
Although the two figures reaching towards the heart is very popular we have sometimes replaced the heart with a stone.
The circle represents the divine, the cross is an earth symbol. The correlation refers to the earth goddess, the Earth Mother; the earliest divine symbol we know. This is also the planetary symbol for Venus, the planet of love and beauty, the Morning and the Evening Star. This symbol is also meant to represent Venus' hand mirror.

This symbol was first seen on the cover of Sisterhood Is Powerful, a collection of essays published in 1970. The collection was edited by Robin Morgan, a feminist poet and founding member of New York Radical Women and W.I.T.C.H.
This is the book that has been called "the primer that started the modern Women's Movement." It is the first comprehensive collection of writings from the then-newborn contemporary wave of feminism. It became a best-seller, its red-and-white cover with this feminist symbol (designed by Morgan) becoming a recognizable graffito around the world. Sisterhood Is Powerful engendered arguments, divorces, marches, legislation, and entire fields of scholarship - as well as ridicule and derision in some of its original reviews ("shrewish," "strident women," "malcontent libbers"). Yet thousands of letters poured in to Morgan and the publishers, each claiming that the little book had, in what would become a familiar refrain, "changed my life."
The book remained in print for more than three decades, and still is available from out-of-print sources. (Morgan decided against updating it when she opted to compile Sisterhood Is Forever instead.)
This is a double-headed axe sacred to the goddess in her warrior form. A ceremonial scepter at Delphi, this symbol represents female and matriarchal power. Remembered for its Amazon associations, the axe has been adopted as an amulet for lesbians as the power side of feminism. This also looks great with a stone in the center.

The male symbol is the astrological symbol for Mars. Popularized by the Austen Powers movies (in fact we made one 4" tall for an Austen Powers Halloween costume) this symbol, like the female symbol, represents the gender in terms of its relationship to the divine. The male symbol is the astrological symbol for Mars - like the female it is composed of the circle of the divine but instead of an earth cross it has an arrow pointing to the stars - a symbol of war but also of farsightedness. It is also suggested to be the spear and shield of the god Mars.

In the early 1970s, in the wake of the Stonewall Rebellion, New York City's Gay Activists Alliance selected the Greek letter lambda, which member Tom Doerr suggested from its scientific use to designate kinetic potential, as its emblem. To the Spartans, the lambda meant unity. They felt that society should never infringe on anyone's individuality and freedom. The Romans adopted the letter to represent "the light of knowledge shed into the darkness of ignorance." Finally, in physics the symbol designates an energy change.
Thus the lambda, with all its meanings, is an especially apt symbol for the gay liberation movement, which energetically seeks a balance in society and which strives through enlightenment to secure equal rights for homosexual people.

Celebrating a different union, or another form of the bisexual symbol, the version on the left combines two Venus symbols, the sign for woman with a Mars symbol, the sign for man. The version on the right is two Mars symbols and one Venus symbol. Trisexual (sometimes 'trysexual') is either an extension of, or a pun on bisexual. In its more serious usage, it indicates an interest in transgender persons in addition to men and women born and raised as men and women called "cis-sexual." In its more humorous usage, it refers to someone who will try any sexual experience. It is used in the song "La Vie Boheme" in the Broadway musical "Rent."
Pansexual, omnisexual, anthrosexual, and pomosexual (postmodern sexuality) are substitute terms that, rather than referring to both or "bi" sex attraction, refer to all or "omni" sex attraction and are used mainly by those who wish to express acceptance of all sex possibilities, including transgender and intersex people, not just the old two. Pansexuality sometimes includes an attraction for less mainstream sexual activities, such as BDSM. Some people who might otherwise identify as pansexual or omnisexual choose to self-identify as bisexual because the term bisexual is more widely known, and because they see it as an important term in identity politics.

We have made a great many BDSM related pieces of jewelry and feel that this is a market that is under-served for high quality products. If you are a member of this community and would like something custom, don't hesitate to email us.
On the left is an East Asian version of the triple yin yang - see here for more info on that - adopted by the BDSM community with some drama. Read the next paragraph. We can oxidize the middle to conform with the usual version if you like. On the right is our version of the classic BDSM symbol. It can be oxidized also.
In 1995 a guy calling himself 'Quagmyr' decided that the triple yin yang would be a good symbol for the BDSM community - so he proceeded to copyright it and now threatens to sue people for using it! Here's one of his pages . Needless to say you cannot copyright an ancient symbol. But he preys on ignorance and has actually made money and obtained huge apologies from folks who have used the symbol on their sites! What a shame and such a violation of the spirit of community and so much more. FEEL FREE TO USE THIS AND ANY OTHER SYMBOL AS YOU PLEASE!

The skull, in Western thought, is often a momento mori, a contemplation on death. The skull also signifies the importance of the head and the brain, including its oracular function. Today, it is the sign of the deviant and the outlaw (not to mention pirates, emos and fashion victims). With the flames representing speed, the version of the skull on the left is most popular with bikers. This design and the next are after tattoo flash by L. Zulueta.
The skull on the right is a tribal design and derives from tattoo work from the South Pacific. Hanky Panky, a famous tattooist, is credited with introducing tribal tattoo to the Western world, but it was really sailors of the 16th through 19th Centuries who popularized tribal motifs. The skull in some cultures is a symbol for reincarnation, which is also the reason for the spiral in the tattoo skull on the right.

The guitar skull on the left is another in the series of tattoo inspired jewelry. The skull is inferred, but it's a great design, especially for a rock guitarist, heavy metal fan, or tat aficionado.
The skull and bones on the right combines tattoo, Polynesian tribal, and pirate influences. Since it was primarily sailors who popularized tattooing, the skull and bones/knives is particularly appropriate. Modelled after work by Hanky Panky and Leo Zulueta, this skull works better as a pin with a millitary clutch back on a leather jacket, or as Mark wears it, on a hat.

This may be my all time favorite piece. I have it tattooed on my wrist; Mark made a ring for me with a moonstone on it's forehead and I have it on top of a piece of labradorite with an opal on it's forehead. It rocks. The skull is often a memento mori or contemplation on mortality. In Tibet the skull also stands for two of the four Precious Gifts: the precious gift of human birth and the precious gift of impermanence or change. After all, ten out of ten go; they take that once-in-a-lifetime, not-to-be-missed, but no postcards back journey. No use getting attached to your "things" and that includes your very self and your body. You can't take it with you etcetc. In addition, drinking from a (real) skull cup helps to master the ego and one's own personal demons. Tibetans are tough, with few illusions, and are devoted to a higher rebirth. And I won't even get into the contents of the skull cups!
This piece looks great with a central stone on the forehead! Email us.
This was a design provided by our customer. Mark fabricated it into this square signet ring which our customer uses as a wedding ring. The ring has a runic inscription encircling the band and 3 point diamonds in each eye. The skull is holding a dead rose in its teeth.
This customer sent us a photo of a ring similar to this one that he wanted but as a hand-made, custom engagement ring for his fiancee. Rings of this somplexity start at $300.
The Sacred Heart, although most popularly known as a Christian symbol (later appropriated by punk and goth subcultures), originates in Egyptian thought, where the heart is considered to be the seat of the soul. In Mesoamerica the blood of the heart was believed to fuel the sun's circuit through the daytime sky and was the dismal excuse for a great many human sacrifices.
The two hearts below are slightly different deigns. Both sacred hearts are layered designs but the one on the right has three high quality cabochon garnets on it. It also has the heart, the crown of thorns around it, the fire of God's love coming out of the top and Christ's blood dripping from the bottom! If that doesn't cover it - I don't know what will.

The knife through the heart is a symbol of passion and revenge and, of course, heartbreak. This piece is made out of a fabricated knife (not sharp - though it can be!) and a fabricated heart. Though it appears that you can withdraw the knife from the heart, you can't. But the piece does say, loud and clear - I'LL GET YOU YET! Or more romantically, my unrequited love for you has pierced me to the heart. This design is based on tattoo flash by Zulueta, which itself was based on sailors' tattoos.
This is an "A" within a stylized snake, and represents the belief that true government is the self-government of equal beings in an equal universe, within the seamlessness of time. This is a symbol of freedom and interdependence.
Anarchy (from Greek: ἀναρχία anarchía, "without ruler") may refer to any of the following: no rulership or enforced authority; absence of government; a state of lawlessness due to the absence or inefficiency of the supreme power; political disorder; a social state in which there is no governing person or group of people but each individual has absolute liberty (without the implication of disorder); and/or the absence or non-recognition of authority and order in any given sphere. We can go do post or dangle earrings too - email us.or Biological Hazard. Although this modern design, representing the threat of biological contamination, bears great similarity to ancient tripartite symbols such as the triquetra and triskalion, it is in fact a glyph showing an organism breaking through a circular containment field. When we developed this design as jewelry we had no idea that the threat of bioterrorism would make it so well known.
Charles Baldwin, who worked at Dow Chemical (!) and participated in the design process sez: "I ran into a peculiar situation one time a couple years ago when someone was putting on a seminar on biohazards. As gifts for the participants, he devised a beautiful tie with little biohazard symbols all over it. This got me upset, and I sent him kind of a nasty letter saying this symbol was not designed to be used sartorially.'' I guess he hasn't been to our site yet :)

In the years of the great pandemics of HIV-AIDS and Hepatitis C, we thought a dog tag identifying infection as a mere fact of life would be a useful counterpoint to the fear and shame that many carrying the antibodies for these diseases feel. And, of course, people working in HASMAT fields (like radiology) would like this dog tag for a completely different reason!
This, and all other dog tags look great with the 2 mm sterling silver bead chain. See the chains page.
Recently revitalized in the public consciousness by Eminem who declared that it was a positive message, the upraised middle finger is the most effective American gestural curse. In Western culture, the finger (as in 'giving someone the finger') - also known as: the middle finger, the bird (as in 'flipping the bird') or to flip someone off - is an obscene hand gesture, often meaning the phrase "fuck you" or "up yours". It is performed by extending the middle finger of the hand while bending the other fingers into the palm. It is identified as the digitus impudicus (impudent finger) in Ancient Roman writings and reference is made to using the finger in ancient Greek comedy to insult another person.
The widespread usage of the finger in many cultures is likely due to the geographical influence of the Roman Empire and Greco-Roman civilization. Another possible origin of this gesture can be found in the first century Mediterranean world, where extending the digitus impudicus was one of many methods used to divert the ever present threat of the evil eye.
The piece can be a pendant or a pin. In this case the jump ring is soldered to the back, but it can also be soldered to the tip. The finger on the right, in 14kt gold, is probably not what Ian Fleming had in mind when he titled his James Bond novel.

Gestural curses are common to all human cultures. Curiously, there is large variation, as to this curse, between the American and the British. The British, for example, use two fingers, slightly crooked, and facing towards the recipient. The same two fingers (straight up and reversed) are Churchill's Victory sign.
This is an alternative method of wearing this symbol, as a post dangle earring. The prices above are for single earrings. Double the price for a pair. Email us for post dangle earring prices in 14kt gold.
Well known to readers of the The Sandman comic novels, this design is similar to the key to Hell Lucifer gave Morpheus when he relinquished his role as Lord of the Underworld. Use this modern magickal charm as a means to get out of a negative situation or at least to let the difficulty be the fuel for your liberation!
The key on the left is sterling silver, oxidized black and burnished so it won't rub off, at least with minimal care. The key on the right was said by our customer to be vibrating in his hand when he received it! We suspect this was more his magickal energy than ours, but the key is powerful, in either silver or 14kt gold.

In the comic book series Lucifer, Mazikeen is a devoted ally and lover of Lucifer Morningstar and the war leader of the Lilim, a race descended from Lilith. A fearsome warrior and a respected leader, Mazikeen is a prominent character in the Lucifer comics. She has the appearance of a beautiful human female with long bluish black hair. She is also the only character for whom Lucifer seems to have any genuine affection. Mazikeen first appeared in The Sandman, where she was Lucifer's consort while he reigned in Hell. At the time, half of her face was normal, but the other half was horribly misshapen and skeletal, causing her speech to be nearly unintelligible. (Gaiman wrote Mazikeen's dialogue by trying to speak using only half of his mouth, and writing down phonetically what came out.)
This cross is from Betrayal Knows My Name (裏切りは僕の名前を知っている), also known as "UraBoku," a Shōjo manga and an anime by Odagiri Hotaru. The cross is a gift from the main character Yuki Giou to his protector, the Duras/demon Luka Crosszeria.
On the Led Zeppelin IV album, Jimmy Page cajoled the four band members into choosing symbols to represent their names on the album cover. The album itself was then called these four symbols (see below), creating all sorts of difficulty for record companies publishing the name on the record charts. Page stated that the symbols were taken from common reference texts. Three of the symbols were easily identified, but Jimmy Page's own "Zoso" symbol proved hard to identify. In fact, you should go to this terrific site to get all the low down: In The Light - Led Zepelin. The author, Duncan, has researched the fuck out of this and his writing is coherent and pleasing. He is also interested in birding, technology and enlightenment.

Duncan sez: "I believe we have a simple and rational explanation for Page's symbol. It has nothing to do with Satan or three-headed dogs guarding the entrance to Hades. I will show that the symbol is a sigil for the planet Saturn, the ruler of Jimmy Page's astrological sun sign, Capricorn."
BTW, If you're a Led Zeppelin fan you have GOT to have this dog tag!
More from Duncan: "The symbols of John Paul Jones and John Bonham can be found in The Book of Signs by Rudolf Koch (published by The Limited Editions Club, London, 1930) - pages 32 and 33 have the symbols for John Paul Jones and John Bonham. Jones' symbol is what we call the triquetra but in this book is called a single circle with 3 intersecting vesica pisces. it symbolizes a person with confidence and competence. It also appears in various mystery school texts, such as the Rosicrucians."

Also from Duncan:
"John Bonham's symbol is three intersecting circles. It symbolizes the man-wife-child trilogy. This symbol also appears on The Heirophant tarot card (Crowley deck) where the trilogy symbolizes Osiris-Isis-Horus.
Robert Plant's symbol - the circle with the feather in it, is the feather of Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of justice and fairness, and is the emblem of a writer (ie: song lyrics). It can be found in The Sacred Symbols of Mu by Colonel James Churchward in Chapter V, on pages 142 and 143. This is not a common symbol, but does turn up in Egyptian and Red Indian (I have no idea what that means!) texts."

StealYourFace.com, from which I got this great joke, is no more. Here's the joke anyway: A Deadhead and his dog walk into a bar. The Deadhead says to the bartender, "Can I have a beer? I don’t have any money, but I have this talking dog." The bartender says, "If your dog can really talk, I’ll give you a beer on the house." The Deadhead says to the dog, "Hey, what’s your favorite Dead song?" The dog barks, "Wharf, Wharf, Wharf." The bartender, furious, throws the Deadhead and the dog out of the bar. Once outside, the dog turns to the Deadhead and says, "Maybe I should have said Dark Star."
The MAIN thing about this design is that it is the name of a (apparently) bad Grateful Dead album and live show; the song by that name is not on the album but being associated with this symbol shows you're a cool deadhead. I can't find that it has any intrinsic meaning - please email me if I'm wrong!
Originally known as the witch's or crow's foot, this symbol was a sign of death. It was adopted by the Committee on Nuclear Disarmament in the 1950's to represent man's inevitable fate if he continues to deal with nuclear power. Gerald Holtom, the artist of the symbol, was in deep despair about mankind's fate when he made this symbol.
The symbol itself is a combination of the semaphoric signals for the letters "N" and "D," standing for Nuclear Disarmament. In semaphore the letter "N" is formed by a person holding two flags in an upside-down "V," and the letter "D" is formed by holding one flag pointed straight up and the other pointed straight down. Superimposing these two signs forms the shape of the peace symbol.

Here the peace symbol is linked in a dog tag with a heart, symbolizing love - promoting the best of all possible worlds: peace and love. This can also be made just as a love dog tag - if you're the romantic sort. We have made dog tags that say: "How Many Have to Die?" and "No Blood for Oil." How about: "Make Love Not War" - it worked once before!
Now these be some mighty fancy peace rings! 14kt gold, argentium and diamonds. AND - both rings went to the same customer - she's serious about her beliefs.
This ring has a 7 point tube set diamond in the middle and costs around $600.
Six peace symbols with six 2 point tube set diamonds! Cost - around $1100.
The Lion of Judah is the symbol of the Ethiopian monarchy and here carries the flag of Ethiopia and wears the imperial crown. This is the primary symbol of the Rastafari and represents H. H. Hailie Selasie; Jah; the courage and heroism needed in the fight against Babylon; the System and for the African roots of mankind. On November 2, 1930 Emperor Haile Selassie was crowned King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Elect of God and Power of the Trinity in the eyes of the 72 nations of this world bowing down to His Imperial Majaesty. Rastas hold that Selassie is a direct descendant of the Israelite Tribe of Judah through the lineage of King David and Solomon, and that he is also the Lion of Judah mentioned in the Book of Revelation.
"I and I sound the alarm, Selasie soldiers beat Babylon back! Jah Rules!"

Colors became important to the Rastafari after Bob Marley became a superstar and public figure. He dressed in red to symbolize the "church triumphant" - Rastafarianism. Yellow stood for the wealth of the homeland. Green illustrated the beauty of Ethiopian vegetation. Black, of course, represented African ancestry. Even the language changed for many Rastas. The beautiful, lilting language of the island is a joy to hear. But often a Rasta will say "I and I" instead of "you and me," because he truly believes all people are one.
All of the signet rings we sell are made by hand, built from sterling silver or karat gold sheet. They are not cast. Consequently they are extremely strong and, as far as we know, quite unique. We know of no other jewelers who are making signet rings in this way. Here the Rastafarian Lion of Judah has been made into a signet ring. This ring could also be made with a 14kt gold Lion on a silver signet ring for around $650 but........depends on your size.
The RastafarianLion costs around $350 in argentium sterling silver.
Here is the Rastafarian Lion in 14kt Gold. What a masterful and important piece it is. This is also a heavy fellow! This ring in a size 9 (say) costs around $1300. As with all rings - as they are made to order - you'll need to email us with your size for your price.
Rastafarianism is a religious and political movement originating in Jamaica in the 1930s. It bases its doctrine on selections from the Bible and regards Ethiopia as the Promised Land and Haile Selassie as a messiah, with many members advocating nonviolence and rejecting materialism and nowadays also advocating vegetarianism.
