Mermaid with Stone

Mermaid with Stone

IIn this variation of the design the mermaid holds a 3mm sea green tourmaline in the star. There's always been an element of danger in the old stories of mermaids. Mermaids sometimes help drowning sailors, but, as often as not, they're typified as the last sight the sailor sees. As far as the story that mermaids were sea cows or manatees I never did believe that even sailors could get quite that drunk! Any stone can be used - sea green tourmalines are "watery" - this one close to the color of the sea. She can be larger , she can't be smaller - 3mm is the smallest stone we can set. Pearls, paua shell, opals or any "sea-like" stone would look great on this piece - email for prices!
