| Originally an earth center, mother goddess symbol, this type of cross was adopted by the crusaders in memory of Jerusalem, the mother of all cities, and the center of the Christian universe. This cross was specifically adopted by the Knights of Malta. Depicted on a banner as red on a white field, it was easy to see & thus may have turned the tide in some battles. | ||||||||||||
